They were close friends..
Probably a little too close than they really should've been.
It was more than friendship.
Call it whatever, companionship perhaps.
Long chats on the phone at nights, sometimes the day time too.
Despite the fact that they meet at work, they had so much to talk about.
Work, family, friends, life, joke and laugh.
It was awesome.
But both knew it would not last forever.
He adored her from the time he laid eyes on her.
And she eventually saw him as a potential.
He was decent, kind, sweet, loving, always there for her.
She always doubting everything, because from her experience all good things always come crashing at her feet. And she was so afrad to feel, do or think anything. But she liked him anyway. Who wouldn't?
So if they liked each other what was the bloody problem?
Some higher authority that is.
Sure, something he wouldn't fight because his hands were tied.
Despite knowing all that they stayed close.
And then the day came.
She being the sensi creature that she was, and him being the same.
The Fallout episode started on the week of his birthday.
A bit of sensitiveness on her part and a bit of insensitiveness on his part.
His words cut through like a knife, when he said those ever hurthing words, "First come First Serve".
Of course all she wanted was to be the one to take him out for his birthday and he has done so much for her, she knew she could never top that. But still, something small and meaningful she wanted to do.
But those words just ripped her. Silly gal, i thought. But she couldn't help feeling what she felt.
And when she called to wish him some minutes pass midnight, his thank you sounded so cold!
She knew the damage this time may be unrepairable.
On sunday, he just left for lunch without a word.
Signs of damage becoming more and more obvious.
They haven't spoken since.
The thought did cross her mind.
Maybe she should put her ego aside and go speak to him.
A part of her thinks, perhaps its better this way.
Perhaps it would be easier if it ended this way.
Perhaps there's someone else now.
Perhaps the time has come for her to walk the opposite direction.
What do I know?
What does she know?
The little present she got him is still lying around at her place.
She doesn't know when or how to give it to him.
It does feel lonely, there is this empty hole.
But she's kept busy just to keep her mind of everything.
Now, none of us knows how this is going to end or what's going to happen next.
Time will tell I guess.
A message to my dear friend;
Whatever happens, whatever you decide.
You are a sweet person, and I wish you all the best. Whatever path you decide to take.
